eBook Activation

Initial Activation

In order to access your eBook you will need to download the preview copy - the download location
will be listed in the download and activation email that is sent to you after the purchase transaction
is completed.

These are .exe files that can be either saved to your computer or run from the download location.

If you saved the file to your computer, open the .exe file by running it - double clicking it in its directory
or using the Run utility.

When the file is open, select the eBook drop down menu and select Activate eBook.  You will be
given a field to enter your activation code you were provided upon purchase (on the confirmation
screen or in the confirmation email you were sent) and click the Activate button.  This will give you
access to the full practice test.

Problems

Macintosh Support
Intel Macs are supported by eBooks, but the Mac OS is not.  If you do not have an alternate computer
to access/use your eBook and your eBook has not been activated, please contact Mercer Publishing
at customerservice@mercerpublishing.com for a refund.

Firewall or Spyware
The eBook requires one validation with the eBook server to validate the activation code.  Is it
possible that you are running a personal firewall on your computer which is preventing this
validation?  Norton has a selection where you can turn off the firewall for 5 minutes in order to allow
the communication with the eBook server, which is plenty of time.  McAfee requires being turned off,
the eBook activated and then re-turned on.  If you are unable or unwilling to temporarily disable the
firewall and your eBook has not been activated, please contact Mercer Publishing at
customerservice@mercerpublishing.com for a refund.

Some people have better luck if they save the document to their hard drive on the download and
activate the eBook when they open it from the hard drive.

An incompatible version of Adobe Reader
Most people have not updated Adobe Reader since they purchased their machines and Adobe has
recently released a new version - Adobe Reader X - which may not be compatible with the eBook.  

Mercer Publishing is an approved Adobe software distributor and has provided the following
downloads of Adobe Reader 9.4 to its customers at no charge.  Close down both the eBook and
Adobe Reader and apply the update:

When you reopen the eBook, if you are still having a problem, the update may not have happened
correctly (which happens sometimes).  You may need to uninstall Adobe Reader and reinstall
through the link above.

I am having difficulty printing the eBook.
The eBooks are not printable.

I cannot save the eBook.
To save the eBook, select Save on the download instead of Open.

I am getting an error message that the code has been used too many times.
If you are getting this error message when activating the eBook for the first time, the eBook is not
properly activating due to a firewall issue.  You will need to contact us at
customerservice@mercerpublishing.com to reset your password and then you will need to disable
your firewall software to allow the eBook communication with the eBook server.

Once you have used the activation code and reopened the document on the same computer, you
should not need to reactivate the eBook (the orange Buy This eBook Now! button will not be
displayed if the eBook is currently activated.)

I want to use the eBook on a second computer.
Although there are no limitations as to the number of times the eBook can be opened, there is a
limit of one active computer at a time.   To deactivate the eBook, select Deactivate from the Help
drop down menu and the code can be reused on a different computer.
